This Privacy Policy describes how PawStatus ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our mobile application.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information: Email address, name, and profile information you provide during registration.
Pet Data: Pet profiles, care records, feeding schedules, medication information, activity logs, and other care-related data you enter.
Household Data: Information about household members and their roles.
Device Information: Device type, operating system, push notification tokens, and timezone.
Usage Data: App interaction patterns, feature usage, and error logs for improving the service.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and maintain the PawStatus service
- Send push notifications and care reminders
- Coordinate pet care activities within your household
- Improve and optimize the App experience
- Communicate service updates and important notices
- Provide customer support
- Detect and prevent technical issues or abuse
3. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase infrastructure with the following protections:
- Encryption in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
- Row Level Security (RLS) ensuring data isolation between households
- Push notification tokens are encrypted before storage
- Care documents are accessed through authenticated streaming with full audit trails
- Regular security audits and monitoring
While we implement industry-standard security measures, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
4. Data Sharing
We do NOT sell your personal information. Your data may be shared only:
- With household members you explicitly invite
- With service providers who help us operate the App (e.g., hosting, push notifications)
- When required by law or to protect our legal rights
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with notice to you)
Third-party service providers are bound by confidentiality obligations and may only use your data to perform services on our behalf.
5. Your Rights (GDPR & US State Laws)
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data
- Portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Objection: Object to processing of your data for certain purposes
- Restriction: Request restriction of processing in certain circumstances
For EU/EEA residents (GDPR): We process your data based on consent and contractual necessity. You may withdraw consent at any time.
For California residents (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know, delete, and opt-out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
For other US states with privacy laws: We comply with applicable state privacy regulations including VCDPA, CPA, CTDPA, and similar laws.

6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. After account deletion:
- Personal data is deleted within 30 days
- Anonymized usage analytics may be retained
- Backup copies are purged within 90 days
- Legal or compliance obligations may require longer retention

7. Children's Privacy
PawStatus is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 16, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
