5. Legal Bases for EU/EEA Users
Where GDPR applies, we process personal information based on:
- Contract: to provide PawStatus, manage accounts, synchronize household data, store records, send requested reminders, and manage subscriptions
- Consent: for optional push notifications, optional marketing messages, and optional device permissions where consent is required
- Legitimate interests: to secure the service, prevent abuse, troubleshoot errors, maintain audit records, improve reliability, and understand non-sensitive product usage
- Legal obligation: to comply with accounting, tax, consumer, app store, and legal requirements
You may withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Withdrawal does not affect processing that happened before withdrawal.
6. No Veterinary Review
PawStatus stores user-entered records for personal organization. We do not review, interpret, validate, diagnose, assess, or provide veterinary advice based on your care records, documents, medication logs, or notes.
7. Household Sharing
When you join or create a household, information associated with shared pets may be visible to other household members. This may include pet profiles, tasks, reminders, care records, activity logs, photos, and documents.
Household sharing may also reveal who created, updated, completed, or accessed shared pet-related records. We may limit or redact technical log details such as IP addresses, user agents, raw storage paths, and internal error details from household-facing views.
Only invite people you trust. You are responsible for managing household access.
8. Documents, Access Logs, and Diagnostics
If you upload documents or use document-related features, PawStatus may store the file, file path or identifier, document name, related pet or care record, upload and access activity, and technical details needed to provide secure access.
We may collect diagnostic and error information when the app or website does not work as expected. This may include screen names, query identifiers, error messages, stack traces, app version, platform, and limited contextual metadata. We use this information to troubleshoot, improve reliability, protect the service, and respond to support requests.
We try to limit sensitive information in diagnostic records, but user-entered text or metadata may sometimes appear in logs if it is related to an error, support request, or security event.

10. We Do Not Sell Personal Information
We do not sell personal information. We do not use pet care records, medication information, uploaded care documents, or household records for third-party advertising.

We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide PawStatus, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect the service.
After account deletion, we aim to delete or anonymize account-related personal information within 30 days, unless a longer period is required for legal, security, backup, accounting, or dispute-resolution reasons. Backup copies may take longer to expire.
Some logs, security records, diagnostic records, access logs, backup records, app store transaction records, subscription records, and legally required records may be retained for longer where needed for security, fraud prevention, accounting, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or service integrity.
